Since it was founded in 1976, PLAZAMEDIA, a company of Sport1 Medien AG, has developed into one of the leading producers of sports TV in the German-speaking countries. Rooted in classic TV production, the company today is also an established provider of smart and digital content solutions for all media platforms.

2020

As result of the coronavirus pandemic, all kinds of corporates switch to virtual marketing and internal communications measures. PLAZAMEDIA proves to be the ideal partner in this regard, as our studio 7 with connected facilities, which is otherwise used for audience events, has a direct link to our production control room environments. Combined with our VR and AR graphics systems, we can produce and stream virtual studio productions for trade shows and corporate events in no time.



Live studio shows of the Bundesliga “corona” season finale for Amazon Prime.



Expansion of capacities in our full-IP  broadcast center to handle the production contract for Deutsche Telekom for DEL and 3rd League, including conference mode.



Virtual studio environment for enterprise-wide broadcasting for internal marketing and communication purposes.


2019

 PLAZAMEDIA wins the production contract for BBL, DEL and 3rd League on behalf of Telekom. The live sporting events and playouts for up to 18 channels are handled by the new fully IP-based broadcast center.


2018

Redevelopment and launch of the fully IP-based broadcast center on the PLAZAMEDIA campus.



Studio productions of 16 live primetime shows across 1,000 m2 studio space on behalf of KMGF for Eurosport.



Provision of a MAM (media asset management) environment with connected S3 on-premises storage system for content for different customer needs. Via web clients, content for all kinds of customers can be stored, organized and made available for potential distribution to their individual requirements.



In-studio comedy, talk and magazine formats. Frequent production of sports and non-sports formats.


2017

Live soccer on Amazon: PLAZAMEDIA provides the crew and technical infrastructure and takes on production services for sports radio from Amazon Music.



PLAZAMEDIA wins production contract for highlights of the soccer Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga for DAZN, the live and on-demand sports streaming service of the Perform Group.



PLAZAMEDIA provides central production services (incl. with downlinks, sound, graphics, signal distribution) for numerous games of the Handball World Championships for Deutsche Kreditbank AG (DKB)



PLAZAMEDIA supports die ESL Cologne with AR solutions during live productions, thus offering added value for viewers streaming and on Twitch.



For the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, PLAZAMEDIA provides broadcast solutions for SPORT1 such as production of the unilateral signal and distribution.



PLAZAMEDIA provides production services incl. live sound recording, graphics and highlights of various races from the FIS Ski Cross World Cup and the Freestyle World Championship for the ZDF Mediathek.


2016

PLAZAMEDIA implements the mobile, AR- and VR-enhanced UEFA Champions League studio for ZDF, which is now also used for Bundesliga and international games.



PLAZAMEDIA broadcasts up to 20 parallel live sporting events and provides extensive production capacities and spaces for DAZN, the live sports streaming service of the Perform Group.



PLAZAMEDIA becomes distribution partner (connectivity and cloud services) for TATA Communications in the German-speaking countries, with direct access to one of the biggest fiber-optic networks in the world.



PLAZAMEDIA partners with Comcast Technology Solutions to offer cloud-based OTT solutions for online publishing, VoD management, live content and monetization solutions.


2015

Production contract for host-broadcasting in Germany and providing broadcast solutions for UEFA Champions League games on ZDF is extended for three years.



PLAZAMEDIA produces world feed of UEFA Champions League final in Berlin and, as well as host-broadcasting for ZDF, produces the fan TV for UEFA.


2014

In the year that Germany are crowned world champions for the fourth time, PLAZAMEDIA handles productions for the FIFA soccer World Cup in Brazil for ZDF and Bild/Axel Springer.



FIFA World Cup commissions PLAZAMEDIA to provide specialized camera systems.



PLAZAMEDIA provides 24/7 broadcasting operations and streaming of the Disney Channel on the channel’s website.



PLAZAMEDIA host-broadcasts the home games of FC Bayern Basketball in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.



PLAZAMEDIA produces the complete Formula 1 season for pay-TV broadcast.


2013

PLAZAMEDIA brings data center on stream and incorporates the SPORT1 production data from the previous year.



HD simulcast: As well as every game, the conference games of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga are shown in HD.



PLAZAMEDIA handles broadcasting operations and live streaming for the channel SPORT1 US.

PLAZAMEDIA takes over the long-term archiving of cinema masters for CONSTANTIN FILM.
