18 Parallel Champions League Matches Live and in Conference – A Unique Football Event on DAZN, January 29, 2025, from the briXwoRk.Studio at PLAZAMEDIA in Ismaning

Munich, 30th January 2025 – On January 29, 2025, DAZN, in collaboration with PLAZAMEDIA, set a new milestone in sports broadcasting history: For the first time ever, 18 parallel Champions League matches were broadcast live in a unique conference format. Fans experienced the largest live football conference of all time, with every game followed in real-time.

The spectacular broadcast was hosted by experts Laura Wontorra and Michael Ballack, promising an extraordinary experience for all football fans. In the conference, viewers were able to follow all key moments from the concurrently played matches.

For the innovative technical implementation and production of this spectacular broadcast, DAZN entrusted PLAZAMEDIA with the design, planning, and execution. The show began with a 90-minute lead-in from the studio before the transmission of individual matches and the conference kicked off, offering the largest selection of live games ever.

Main Studio – Focus on Innovation and Technology

The broadcast took place from the Anchor Studio, where PLAZAMEDIA's briXwoRk-XR studio was once again selected. After moving to the larger Studio 4, the production could take place on an impressive studio floor of 700m². At the heart of the set is a 180-degree playable LED wall, measuring 23 meters in length and 5 meters in height, providing maximum visual impact. This wall was used to display live signals from all 18 matches, present graphics, and facilitate switch-ins to the stadiums.

The set impresses with its size and versatile control options, which, combined with the live footage, transfer the emotion and passion of the stadiums onto the 120 m² LED wall, bringing the atmosphere directly into the studio.

Commentators' Studio – Unique Perspectives and Top Equipment

Directly adjacent to the briXwoRk.Studio was the Commentators' Studio. Here, all 18 commentators were seated in a large semi-circle, each with their own commentary unit and the necessary video feeds. A central projection system provided them with live images from the concurrent matches, as well as additional information and signals.

Signal and Production Concept – Maximum Flexibility and Precision

The production was based on a sophisticated signal and production concept. All 18 games were received through the PLAZAMEDIA MCR and the DAZN PCR, then processed in Control Room 3 and for editing in the highlights cut in standard 3G. Additionally, 12 other signals from the stadiums were used for switch-ins, interviews, instant highlights, and special camera angles. In total, 30 external signals were provided for a clear and efficient editing process at all relevant positions.

An Exceptional Production Team

More than 100 people were involved in bringing this extraordinary event to life, ensuring that the evening became an unforgettable experience for viewers. Through the use of innovative technology, state-of-the-art equipment, and the dedicated collaboration of a motivated team, PLAZAMEDIA, on behalf of and in cooperation with DAZN, set new benchmarks in football broadcasting.

Jens Friedrichs, Managing Director of PLAZAMEDIA: “We are proud to have had the opportunity to collaborate with DAZN on such an innovative project. The technical implementation of such an extensive and dynamic live broadcast of 18 simultaneous matches was a unique milestone in sports reporting and set new standards in television broadcasting. A special thanks goes to DAZN for placing their trust in our expertise, as well as to our entire team, whose dedication and impressive teamwork were key to successfully delivering this demanding project.”
