Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth visits PLAZAMEDIA’s briX| as part of the 40th FILMFEST MÜNCHEN: Focus on innovation and “green production” in Germany as a media location

Ismaning, July 3, 2023 – Claudia Roth, Minister of State for Culture and the Media, visited PLAZAMEDIA’s new briX| last weekend on the occasion of the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN 2023. At the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN, she had previously opened the “Green Culture Conference – Audiovisual Media in Motion”. At PLAZAMEDIA’s corporate headquarters in Ismaning, she learned about the Extended Reality (XR) LED Studio, which went into operation in February of this year. As one of the most innovative studios in Germany, the briX| is setting new standards, particularly in the area of “Green Production”, and enables sustainable productions that meet the ecological standards of “Green Motion”.

After her visit and the presentation of the studio in live operation by the PLAZAMEDIA team, Claudia Roth was impressed by the possibilities offered by the briX| “Art and culture have to address their own ecological footprint, have to save energy, manage and build more sustainably, produce less waste. The audiovisual media are taking a pioneering role here, also in terms of using new, sustainable technologies.”

Jens Friedrichs, Chairman of the Management Board of PLAZAMEDIA GmbH: “We thank Claudia Roth for her visit on the occasion of the FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. This also expresses appreciation for the innovative and sustainable path we are taking at PLAZAMEDIA – with our new briX| as the next milestone. Particularly when it comes to the topic of ‘Green Production’, as one of the leading content solutions providers in the media location of Germany, we offer forward-looking possibilities for how productions can be realized impressively and at the same time in a way that conserves resources.”

Since the opening in February 2023, a variety of projects have already been implemented in the briX| – including, for example, the studio broadcasts for DAZN for the UEFA Champions League Final and for Red Bull Media House for the Wings for Life World Run, for PANTALEON Films and ProU Producers the cinema film “791 KM” and for the Blood Donation Services of the German Red Cross (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, DRK) the campaign “Erst wenn’s fehlt, fällt’s auf!” (Engl.: “Only when it’s missing, it's noticeable!") for World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

About briX| – one of the most innovative studios in Germany

“Where Physical and Digital Worlds Meet”: The briX| seamlessly combines real set architecture with virtual worlds via the LED wall and can be extended into a 360° space via augmented reality. The studio set features a 24-meter wide and 5-meter high L-shaped LED wall. The outstanding viewing angle stability allows filming of the LED wall even from extreme camera angles. In addition, an incredibly low moiré behavior is convincing thanks to a pixel pitch of 1.9 millimeters.

When planning and implementing its studio projects, PLAZAMEDIA supports its customers fully with the extensive knowhow of its teams – including conception, design, content production, production management, graphics and XR experts, production and recording technology, deco and stage construction, as well as “green consultants” to ensure sustainable production. Thanks to these technical and economic advantages, the briX| offers almost unlimited application possibilities for novel and sustainably realized productions. XR technology enables customers to stage their projects and brands in an innovative and resource-saving way: The spectrum ranges from film and TV productions as well as broadcasts to corporate productions such as commercials or photo shoots to on-site, hybrid and virtual (live) events, presentations and training courses.

“Green Production” in the media location Germany: When it comes to sustainability, the new XR LED Studio sets standards

With productions in the briX| that meet the ecological standards of “Green Motion”, PLAZAMEDIA can help its clients reduce their carbon footprint: Specially trained and IHK-certified “Green Consultants Film & TV” advise customers on request right from the start of planning and implementing their projects. The use of green electricity, the use of LED lighting and also the reduction of material, cast and crew transports to the filming location lead to significant CO2 savings in the XR LED Studio.
